2025 Bscotch Wrapped (and How Many Dudes demo)

A zombie, a wizard, and a regular dude walk into a combat ring with 100 toddlers...

2025 Bscotch Wrapped (and How Many Dudes demo)

TL;DR: The demo for our next game is playable at this very moment!

For this Ballyhoo you're back to hearing from me, your old pal Adam! I've mostly taken a back seat to game-related things at Bscotch so I can work on some other cool stuff, but everyone else on the team needed every single second to get our next game ready to put into your hands. So here I am! I've missed you 😭

"WAIT, there's a 'next game'? And it's ready to be 'in my hands'? What does that meeeaaan?"

We've been working on "How Many Dudes?" (HMD), for a mere few months, but a week ago we realized that our entire team was already playing tons of HMD in their free time. Even our QA team, who already plays it all day, was also playing it all weekend! So we figured... why not give you something fun to do over the holidays, and get early feedback from y'all to boot!

A week isn't a long time to put a demo together, but we burned the midnight oil (sorry, environment!) and got it done. And we didn't skimp on content either: the demo has literally everything we've made for the game so far.

Give it a go, and pop into our Discord to let us know what you think.

2025 Bscotch Wrapped

It's the end of the year, so it's time for our traditional, "What the heck happened?" treatise.

Sometimes the world goes sideways and you gotta find joy where you can, when you can. That's why games are so important to us in the first place; we made the original Crashlands to help us deal with Sam's cancer journey (he just hit 10 years cancer-free last week!). And we did a lot of game-making in 2025:

  • We finally launched Crashlands 2! It only took... uh... ... 4.5 years... But we did it! It's by miles the most ambitious thing any of us have ever done. And I don't even think it's my bias talking when I say it's one of the best games I've ever played. A huge congrats to our team for getting this thing made, and to everyone who helped along the way.
  • After launching Crashlands 2, we spent the next 6 months creating and releasing 3 huge patches based on player comments. That let us put a bow on the game so that we could call it well and truly "done", in a way that lets us have no regrets. Those updates seem to have been worth it: they brought Crashlands 2 from an already-great "Very Positive" to an "Overwhelmingly Positive" (96%) rating on Steam!
  • Sam and Seth made "How Many Dudes?" during a game jam, as a little palate cleanser between Crashlands 2 updates. It turned out to be such a fun idea that we decided to make it our next game, and so far people seem to be agreeing with us: we put a up a video about farting vampires (it's a weird game) that got a jillion views and have already seen randos put up videos about HMD. We even managed to get the demo out before the year ended!
  • While we did a lot of game-making, we also did a lot of talking about it in our weekly podcast. The big news there is that we switched from audio-only to video! So if you want to hear about how games are made in general, learn about HMD or Crashlands in particular, or just see our faces while we make fun of AI and try to figure out what the heck Xbox is doing, go take a gander at our ghostly visages!

But alas, it's time for me to go. You've got HMD to play and holidays to enjoy!
